Culver
is a small town located in Marshall County in north-central Indiana. It's part of Union Township that also includes the communities of Burr Oak, Hibbard, Maxinkuckee and Rutland. As of the 2000 census, the population of Culber was 1,539 full-time residents. The city is most well known for being home to one of the best prep boarding schools in the United States - Culver Academies. The town of Culver is located on the edge of Lake Maxinkuckee, the second largest natural lake in Indiana. The shore is lined with beautiful homes and the Culver Academies also sits along the shoreline. For such a small town, Culver offers first-class amenities in the way of shopping and dining. The shopping is within walking distance of the town park and beach and includes gifts, collectibles, antique furniture, clothing, fine art, and sweets. Lodging can be found in rental homes, condominiums, or one of the areas several bed and breakfasts. Culver is a beautiful, peaceful place to spend a relaxing weekend or longer. The natural beauty of the lake and the slow pace attracts many people, especially during the summer months. Numerous recreational activities are available at the lake and Culver is also home to two private and one public golf courses.

North-Central Indiana is typically Midwestern with four distinct seasons. Spring and autumn are mild, summers are warm and humid and winters are cold. Expect summertime high temperatures to reach the low to mid-80s with periods of occasional showers or thunderstorms. Autumn is the sunniest season with mild days and cool evenings. It's quite beautiful with the brilliant colors of the leaves, and is often the best time to visit and explore the area. Wintertime is cold but not extreme, with highs in January and February in the 20s or 30s and lows in the teens. Occasionally it can dip into the single digits at night. Spring is sometimes slow to arrive, but when it does it's lovely with the blossoming of trees and spring flowers.
